CiviConnectors - Supporting the CivicTech ecosystem in Egypt

CiviConnectors is creating a support infrastructure for innovative ideas in the Egyptian CivicTech sector.

The CiviConnectors program is building a support infrastructure for innovative ideas in the Egyptian CivicTech sector. The goal is to improve quality of life and access to public interest services through citizen-oriented innovative solutions, contributing to sustainable development.

The first component is to build a collaborative network of stakeholders across all levels in the tech ecosystem that encompasses startups, technology experts, academics, corporate professionals and public sector representatives that are committed to improving the quality of life for Egyptian citizens.

The second component is to provide direct financial support, training, mentoring, and market access to tech-enabled startups to develop citizen-centric solutions that can enhance the engagement of Egyptian citizens with digital public services and create a seamless experience.

Applications are now open for tech startups and innovators to apply for CiviConnectors’ support program by 15 December 2023.

Program objectives

Digital inclusion

CiviConnectors operates on the principle of Leaving No One Behind, which strives to ensure  that no one is excluded from utilizing technology in everyday life. We aim to create a holistic infrastructure that sustainably supports the network members, the program participants, and – by extension – the citizens.

Transparency and collaboration

CiviConnectors fosters an open and seamless exchange of knowledge and experience. By adopting a citizen-centric approach, network members come together to address public service challenges and support the program participants in developing relative, inclusive, and accessible solutions.

Startups support

CiviConnectors stands for empowering startups to create societal and economic impact. This is achieved with direct support for up to 12 teams as well as opportunities to take part in further support initiatives geared towards nationwide growth.

Partners

The program was developed and is being implemented by the nonprofit organization enpact. It is supported by the Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) in Egypt, within the framework of the Supporting e-Government and Innovation in the Public Administration (InnoPA) project, on behalf of the German Government.
