Enhancing capacities of Business Support Organizations to strengthen the support infrastructure for SMEs in Lviv and Volyn

The Ecosystem Builders Track of the Just Transition through Entrepreneurship project focuses on business support organizations (BSOs) to develop services and programs for entrepreneurs in the region geared toward recovery and growth through creating avenues for sustainable, long-term support that extends beyond the duration of the program.

The aim is to support communities in the coal-mining regions of Ukraine in adapting to structural changes brought on by the transition to clean energy along with war-induced disruptions.

What is Just Transition through Entrepreneurship?

Just Transition through Entrepreneurship aims to support Ukraine’s green recovery and just transition in the face of structural changes, economic challenges, and war-induced disruptions by providing holistic support for aspiring entrepreneurs, existing entrepreneurs, and entrepreneurial support organizations. The project includes four tracks, open for aspiring entrepreneurs, established entrepreneurs, business support organizations and entrepreneurship ecosystem stakeholders.

This track supports business support organizations that work with enterprises directly and indirectly related to the coal mining sector. By taking part in this track, representatives of BSOs receive access to training sessions and bootcamp, as well as network development.

Target group

1-3 representatives from a business support organization that meets the following criteria:

  • Location: based in one of the target regions and the majority of its member businesses are in one of the target regions (Volodymyr and Lutsk Raions in Volyn Oblast; Sheptytskyi, Lviv, and Zolochiv Raions in Lviv Oblast).
  • Stage of development: established within the last 10 years, focusing on developing and expanding their capacity to support local entrepreneurs.
  • Scope: dedicated to supporting local small businesses and the local economy to grow and adapt to structural challenges.
  • Commitment: have representatives willing to engage fully in all program activities and demonstrate a commitment to long-term growth and sustainability.
